Surfite is a manmade material created from resin built up in surfboard workshops. The resin is applied at the final stage of waterproofing a surfboard in a process called glassing. The overspill cures over time and can then be cut to expose all the layers.
This is Californian Surfite which originates from a surfboard shops in Oceanside, Southern California.
The patterns are unique and I love the fact that this beautiful stone has been made from materials that may have made their way to landfill.
The vibrant blue colours in this pendant are encased in Sterling Silver and hung from an 18" belcher chain. The pendant itself measures approx 3cm in length and 1.5cm at it widest point. An added silver nugget adds a further feature point.
For anyone who loves a backstory, these are the stones for you.
